THE SQUATTERS 2009

Hello all you Squatter followers, sorry about the lag in posting, just been a bit busy. So let's catch up on all the happenings in Squatterville! We added an additional 4 Squatters and would love to welcome: Joan, Jen, Rox and Laura; you are all officially considered Squatters! Our league now consists of 24.....how AWESOME! We have had some not so hot weather from the beginning of the season, but finally the sun and heat God's came unto us and showered us with something other than snow, wind and rain....what a relief. The week of the 4th we had a great turnout, the 11th was a big bust, the 18th, well lets just say it was still a bust, however.....some true dedicated squatters hit the back nine with pride and vengeance! Joyce, Lisa, Ciec, Karen, Angel, Chris and DJ braved the elements to show the men how to tough it out! May 25th and June 1st rounds were full of fun, laughs and scattered T.P. Got your Balls? game was a new adventure added to the season, none the less a few didn't have their balls at the end of the round and paid the consequence!

Some exciting Squatter news hit the "fairwaves" last week and we would like to congratulate Miss Katie on her engagement! Grab your shades, the glare will blind ya!

Weather is suppose to cooperate for next round, looking forward to playing a scramble and continuing the fun! We would like to say OO OO for the awesome food being served up at the clubhouse! Thanks Joe, Jenna and Courtney you all rock!

A new year has officially begun!

Well the Squatter Invitational was a bit of a bust, thanks to the nice SPRING weather we are having, however there were 8 real troopers who braved the elements to get a 9 hole round in. "Crazy" some may say....."dedicated" a squatter would say. Hats off and parkas and scarves on for those frigid swingers: Ciecer, Joyce, Karen, Gail, Cindy O., Lisa, Chris(a new squatter!) and DJ. We would like to welcome all of our new Squatters: Peggy, Wendy, Judy, Janice, Chris and Angel! The season will be off in full swing next Tuesday, hopefully we will be blessed with more appropriate golf weather! See you next week!

It's all about history...so the story begins.

Ok, I promised some history on this all too good to be true Golf League, A.K.A the "Conesus Squatters" so here it goes. Golf season 2009 was was one for the record books; we assembled 14 female golfers(some of which had NEVER golfed before!) on Tuesday nights to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf (and maybe drink a couple of beers). Anywho, the format we used was pretty basic: an easy handicapped system, some golf clubs, some tees (more properly known as "STICKS") a few golf balls, a few OOO OOO's (I'll explain later) and lot's of laughs! We were a new league without a whole lot of direction but with a definite mission to improve our skills, learn the game of golf, but still have fun! Our budget was low, so we sold 50/50 tickets to our league and to the Tuesday night mens league in an effort to raise some funds to help with our future plans, including our banquet, some merchandise designed especially for the "Squatters" and our Sadie Hawkins Tournament.

Throughout the season our golf skills grew and we grew on our counter parts.......THE MEN, so for them helping out with our raffles every week and putting up with our less than optimal golf etiquette, we hosted the 1st annual Sadie Hawkins Tournament. WOW! What an event, fully equipped with our own Squatter rules and scoring system. Prizes were graciously and appropriately awarded to the stars of the year, the tournament, and the "SCHWETTIEST" ! I believe we all enjoyed the event and our looking forward to the 2nd annual this year, just not sure what we'all will be wearin.

This gives a very, very brief summary and history of our league. As this year progresses, we'll try to keep postings and events updated as they happen. Be sure to stay tuned, as you never can tell what may happen on a Tuesday night in beautiful downtown Conesus!


OOO OOO definition: A form of vocal applause used by a Conesus Squatter to signify their praise for another Squatter who has accomplished something remarkable! May not always be appreciated by fellow (male) golfers, so should be used sparingly and with low volume when possible.

Getting Ready Fore the New Season!

This blog is being created to share some of the incredible moments shared by the Conesus Squatters Golf League at Conesus Golf Club and to encourage anyone who has always wanted to try golf but was toooooo afraid. Last year we decided to start a new golf league at the Majestic Conesus Golf Club (a little plug for ya Kev) . It was our goal to have everyone enjoy and learn without feeling the pressure of golf itself and I think we were quite successful! I will be posting more history of this league with some pics later, just wanted to get it up and running before the season began! So welcome back all you squatters, the squatter supporters (you know who you are) and any wanna be squatters come on down.
